Hear what CWU deputy general secretary Andy Kerr and Connect’s Ben Marshall have to say about the pension changes: CWU TV EPISODE THREE

Andy Kerr, CWU deputy general secretary, said: “I strongly urge all members to take part in this consultative ballot. This ballot is independent to BT’s consultation and will form a valuable response to the proposed changes.

“Our negotiating teams worked long and hard to secure the best possible agreement through negotiation. Decisive action has been taken to ensure the future of pensions in the company and to improve the position of the lowest paid and most vulnerable workers within the company.  That is why the CWU is urging members to vote yes in favour of the agreement”

Ben Marshall, Connect assistant general secretary, said: "It is essential that members vote in this ballot and Connect is joining the CWU in strongly urging all our members to accept the proposed agreement.

“The agreement secures the long term future of BT pensions and represents a very good position given the challenges that face pensions provision in BT.  We have negotiated jointly with CWU and have secured a considerable improvement over BT's original intentions for changes to pension arrangements."
